Often described as un-bounding and contagious energy, Dr. Maya has a true zest for life shown by her positive and fun-loving attitude. She is a native of St. Louis, MO and always had a love for science and eating ice cream. She attended Rosati-Kain High School and took a liking to chemistry during her junior year. This led her to major in chemistry at Carleton College in Northfield, MN. She was inspired to pursue a career in Food Science from watching Unwrapped on Food Network and after an internship at a cereal company, she was hooked! Ice Cream Scientist™
Dr. Maya Warren earned her PhD in Food Science, specializing in the microstructure, sensorial, and behavioral properties of frozen aerated desserts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Maya and her friend and former lab mate, Dr. Amy DeJong are the winning duo (#SweetScientists) from the 25th season of the Emmy Award winning reality show, The Amazing Race. In 2021, she co-founded Ice Cream for Change (icecreamforchange.org) - a platform of ice cream makers and lovers advocating for social change and civic action, alongside Miss Mona Lipson. Dr. Maya is also the creator and host of Ice Cream Sundays with Dr. Maya (Instagram Live) where she brings people of all ages together and teaches how to make No-Churn Ice Cream right at home (inspired by quarantine 2020).
Currently, Dr. Maya owns IC3 CRM CONSULTING LLC - an international consulting company specializing in the art and science of frozen aerated desserts (you know, ice cream and all of its close cousins!). From the creation of new flavors to formulation development and manufacturing on a global scale, Dr. Maya has the scoop! Dr. Maya also delivers various keynote addresses for schools and organizations across the globe…leaving people smiling and full of joy!
