Applying Flexible Thinking

How we think can help us in a multitude of ways. A good example of this is flexible thinking. Because of its dynamic nature, it allows us to solve problems better and adapt more easily. It takes a conscious effort to shift our mindset but with a bit of effort, we can make change happen. Today we want to dive into how we can apply flexible thinking in our daily lives.

Brainstorming And New Ideas

Brainstorming is an extremely effective way that we can apply flexible thinking in a practical manner. In life, there are many instances where we'll need to use our creativity to help us problem-solve. One way we can do that is by setting aside some time for us to think about all the different ideas that come to mind. This is known as brainstorming and it's best seen in the arts since they focus more on expression. Figuring out how to approach an essay or a persuasive speech can be more effective when we consider how all the different possibilities work with one another. The good thing about brainstorming is that it allows us to pick out the ideas that work better for us as an individual.

Being Receptive

If we really want to be a flexible thinker we need to be receptive to ideas other than our own. Something good to consider is that our own point of view is one of many out there in the world. Everyone sees things differently and this also applies to how we solve problems. Asking for a second opinion is worth doing since it allows us to look past our own biases to try and see things differently. Being able to bounce ideas off of someone else can give us a new perspective that can provide more accuracy depending on the situation. A flexible approach requires us to consider that other points of view are valid because, in a lot of cases, they are.

Embracing Change

Change is something that is constant and always happening all around us. Our thoughts change just as much as we do and learning how to embrace that change can help us immensely. When we are flexible with our thoughts things flow together much easier. This is mainly because we're not set in our thought patterns which can feel restricting at times. A flexible mindset can be freeing since it can help us see the value of free thought along with how empowering critical thinking can be. To embrace change we need to be willing to step outside our comfort zone. Trying new things can make it easier for us to see the value in the different mindsets that go along with these activities. The mind is a muscle and it's up to us to take care of it with the love and care that it deserves and this applies to how we think as well.
