A Good Moral Compass is Needed

Morals are a set of thoughts and ideas that revolve around the idea of what is right and wrong. These are not just important from an ethical perspective, but they can serve as a sort of guide for how to live your life. A moral compass is essentially a combination of these ideals that serve as a means of how to tell right from wrong easier. An example of this can involve what action we take when someone else needs help such as noticing a student is being bullied. A rightly aligned moral compass would incentivize us to take action to help such as reporting the problem to someone with higher authority to fix things. This choice not only empowers us to do the right thing, but it can help someone else in an effective, yet safe manner. A different example would be if you notice someone is having a rough day to try and talk to them. This small act can not only uplift them, but it can help promote empathy in a constructive way.

Good Values Provide Good School Habits

Personal responsibility is one type of value that is extremely practical. Taking responsibility is good as it can apply to our actions which hold us accountable. One way this applies is with our studies and grades. Accepting the areas we have control over such as how much time we study, or the quality of our time spent for this can help empower us. Choice is another type of value that can impact us. Choice gives us a sense of freedom and agency which is needed to help our happiness. Tying into the idea of responsibility, when we consciously choose to take an action that is for our well-being, it can lead to other benefits. While there is a limit to how much we can do, understanding that can make all the difference.

Your Values Can Work on a Global Scale

Values aren't just limited to just ourselves, they in fact can work on a much larger scale. We need to consider that some communities are built around certain ideals and goals. A good example of this are charity organizations. These types of communities’ values are aligned with helping others and providing resources to those without. This is great as there are some things that are only feasible in larger groups. Finding these types of communities where values are aligned can give a sense of connection along with giving people a chance to be their best possible selves. While values are personal to the individual, there are still means to find common ground with others. This can ultimately allow people to understand and relate to one another while still having a form of individuality to think for themselves.
