Reclaiming Your Creativity

Everyone goes through parts of their lives where it might feel difficult to be creative. It could be for a class, work, or simply for leisure. Each of these are important areas to consider since at some point we'll need to take a different approach either with our thinking or with how we take action. Being creative when we're not up to it can feel overwhelming but today we want to talk about how we can reclaim our creativity and why it's so important.

Breaks Are Necessary

One of the biggest things that can affect us creatively is when we feel a sense of burnout. This can be the result of simply pushing ourselves too much and trying to force ourselves to do something when we're not feeling up to it. Recognizing when we need a break can help us recover and work towards a healthier outcome. Vacation is a great example of this since it provides the ultimate sense of disassociation from responsibilities and chores. It allows us to reconnect with who we are along with why we followed our creative passions in the first place. It allows us to make the space necessary to help promote better habits while also taking care of our needs. Whenever things get to be too much and we can't tap into the well of creativity anymore, then it's a sign we need to take time for ourselves.

Consistency And Confidence

When we feel well-rested another thing that might be stifling our creativity could be how consistent we are. Ideally, we want to be confident with the work we're putting out there since each creative piece serves as a particular lens that reflects where we are in life. We'll inevitably put some part of ourselves into our works and that's okay because we need to celebrate who we are. When we're consistent with our habits it's a lot easier to build confidence in the process. We need to be confident since we want to express ourselves in the most authentic way possible. It takes great courage to be vulnerable with your creative works and the only way to be okay with that is by learning how to appreciate yourself while creating.

Knowing What Inspires Us

Everyone has some reason why they choose to create and there's something that inspires every one of us. Each creative work has something that motivates us to follow through with it. It can be an experience we had or a feeling that someone or something gave us. Creating can simply be how we react to things that are positive, difficult, or anywhere in between. The important thing is channeling that into something we can look back on and enjoy. Our creative interests may shift depending on where we are in life and that's okay. We don't have to always do the same thing all the time. We can and should mix things up since it's necessary to revitalize ourselves so that we can reconnect with what we love.
