Choosing to be Positive

Being aware of our feelings is good since it can clue us into how things in our environment can affect us. This is especially important when it comes to our mindset since it has a direct impact on how we view the world around us. Something to keep in mind is that we do have a choice with how we choose to look at the world and the best way to do that is by being positive.

Why This Matters

Perspective is everything. Our perspective is effectively the lens in which we see the world. When things feel tough our perspective can change as a result of it. It's healthy to acknowledge that our environment is easily one of the biggest factors that determines our perspective and with it how positive or negative we are. Our personality plays a role in this as well since some people are naturally more optimistic. Being able to make a conscious effort to shift our outlook on things matters since it can give us a greater appreciation for life and make us happier as a result.

How Can we do it?

When it comes to our outlook on life, it's something that we may or not be aware of. Fostering self-awareness is critical since it can train our minds to look for healthier ways of viewing different situations. Meditation is a powerful tool that can help with this since it can help our mind slow down and reassess what we're experiencing. Being still with our thoughts allows us to reflect and be at peace. Being able to put a positive spin on something we might initially view as negative is also extremely helpful. A good example of this is how we look at failure. When we fail we need to recognize it as an opportunity to learn. This helps us shift our mindset from simply doing well at something to viewing it in a constructive way to promote growth.

Being Open to Change

Change is like a river. It's always in motion because it's simply how nature works. When we're open to change it's a lot easier to go with the flow of life instead of fighting against it. Stress can be caused when we're in a position where there's too much change at once that we're not ready for. It's easy to mitigate this by being okay with whatever happens as a result. We need to recognize that at any given time in life, we're doing our best with the tools and resources we have and this also plays a role in our mindset. We need to be patient and forgiving with ourselves since it takes time to be okay with all the new experiences we go through. Choosing to be positive isn't always the easiest thing and it can take a concentrated effort. It's worth it though since it helps us view things in a manner that can empower us to do better.
