Staying in The Moment

There are many benefits when it comes to acknowledging our past and planning for the future, but one thing that can help the most is staying in the moment. Being present helps us make space for a lot of wonderful things in our lives. Today we want to talk about why this is so important and how to work on it.

It Keeps You Centered

Staying in the moment is a great way to help you be centered. When we are in this frame of mind we are usually calm and collected. This is good because it allows us to make more informed decisions and slow down our thoughts. The future can often bring about feelings of uncertainty but the present helps us focus on the here and now and what we're able to do. This also translates to our own locus of control. Since we're in the moment, we can dedicate our attention to the things that we're actively able to change or influence. Rather than spending time thinking about changing up a habit for example, we can opt to consciously work on it now. This sort of proactive approach helps reframe our minds to empower ourselves to promote balance within our lives.

It Promotes Gratitude

Gratitude is another quality that is often found when we focus on the present. This is mainly because it's a reminder that the present is all we truly have. The future isn't something that we can predict and learning to cherish each day as if it's a gift is a better outlook. At this moment we may be healthy which is an extremely good thing. We also have people in our lives that we care about and look up to. Rather than dreaming about having a better social circle, appreciating the people who are there with you now can be a humbling experience. Many people come and go in our lives and the simple act of laughing and appreciating the moment is exactly why gratitude is so important.

It Teaches Good Life Skills

One of the last major elements when it comes to staying in the moment is that it can teach good life skills. Even when we are in the present, things such as time management skills along with working on our mentality can be found. Being in the moment requires us to be aware of how we spend our time. If we feel that something is disempowering us, rather than continuing to do it we can opt to say no or do something else. This is powerful because it can take a lot of courage to say no to something. Being in the present can help us go with the flow and not overthink things. Sometimes saying yes to things can give us new experiences that we may really enjoy. Having a healthy mindset is essential when it comes to staying in the moment since this sort of optimism can show us the value in many things.
