Why Friendships Are Necessary For Happiness

Happiness can be very multifaceted and has many different components to it. One area of this is our friendships. Good friendships can enhance our lives in a positive way but in order to make the most of them, we have to put in effort. Today we want to talk about why our friendships are necessary for our happiness.

Community

Being accepted and feeling like you're part of a community is essential for our well-being. Everyone wants to feel loved and that's best seen in our friendships. Our friends are there to help support us in times of need and we're there to do the same for them. Building a community can take time which is why many of us choose to join other groups. This can include being a part of extracurricular activities and meeting new friends there. We never know who will become part of our close friend circle which is why it’s good to keep an open mind about things. Community can help drive us to more positive outcomes such as leadership and improving the quality of life for those around us.

Learning More About Each Other

Learning about those around us is its own reward. Everyone has a story to tell and when we're friends with others we give ourselves the chance to understand their points of view. Perspective is something that is unique to everyone since it's a result of both our environment and experiences. Talking to others and asking how they're doing is a small way to get to know how they're doing. It shows that we care about people and gives us a means of putting ourselves in someone else's shoes. Empathy is a core part of our friendships because it can help us understand those around us. It takes time and effort to practice this sort of communication and it's ultimately worth it since it lets us appreciate our friendships more.

People to Enjoy Life With

Having people to enjoy life with is a core part of happiness. Our friends give us the means to appreciate all the different things that are a part of life. Spending time with others can give us the means of discovering new hobbies. This, in turn, can allow us to experience different interests that we may be passionate about. A great example of this is having a friend introduce us to a new movie or sport. This can make it easier for us to be more open-minded since we have someone we care about that can guide us. People make life wonderful since they have a plethora of experiences to share with us. Having people by our side can make life much more pleasant since we have others we can trust. Friends give us the courage to be our best possible selves and make us happier by simply being with them. While every friendship faces different challenges they're worth working through to understand and appreciate each other better.
