How to be More Consistent

Consistency is key when it comes to improvement. While it may seem initially daunting to try and establish a more consistent routine, it doesn't have to be difficult. Today we want to talk about how you can be more consistent and why it's important.

Set Aside Enough Time

When it comes to developing consistency, we need to make sure that we set aside enough time. This is essential because, like most things in life that are worth working for, it takes time to improve at things. A great example of this can be establishing a good study routine. Sometimes we might try to cram a lot of information in at the last second. This is often not conducive to consistency since there may be one night where we stay up very late trying to do this, and another where we're doing it much earlier. Scheduling is a core element in consistency and we can see this in sports as well. Having a daily session where you give yourself the amount of time needed to do enough reps is essential for improvement. When thinking about your goals, keep in mind how long you need to accomplish them.

Give Yourself Space to Learn

Giving yourself the space to learn is another means of establishing consistency. This is often found within our environments and our attitudes. A healthy environment is one that allows us the peace of mind to take on things in a manner that works for us. This can be something such as a small gym where there is minimal noise or our bedrooms where we are in control of our environment. A good environment is one that allows us to have a good amount of influence over how we work on our routine. It can be something as simple as controlling the noise level or making sure that it has all the gear we need. Everyone has a different setting that works out better for them and understanding that is key to learning. Having a good mentality is another way that we can work towards this as well since a positive mindset can go a long way. Seeing things from an optimistic point of view can make the act of learning something that focuses on an opportunity.

Practice Daily

By far one of the best things we can do for ourselves when it comes to consistency is to practice daily. This is important because it helps us ensure that we're consistently working on the things we care about while also honing our skills. Another great benefit of doing something more regularly is that it helps us see what we specifically need to work on. This is mainly because we're exposed to this activity on the regular and we can pick out what parts we need to tweak. Improvement is something that takes time and giving yourself the time and space necessary while also working on it gradually is one of the best ways to get better at what you care about.
