Using Planning to Improve Your Life

One of the most useful life skills is planning. This can give you the means to work towards things that are constructive toward your well-being and give you the chance to focus on growth as well. Today we want to talk about some ways that we can use planning to improve our life.

Planning And Boundaries

Boundaries are a very important thing to consider when it comes to planning. Many of us may find ourselves with little time to be able to do all the things we want to in the day. Thankfully there are ways to work on that. Setting aside time to not have to think or do any responsibilities is one such way to do so. There are many instances where we will need to do things that are mandatory which is okay. It's also good to remember that life is more than just these responsibilities. Having a healthy lifestyle involves being able to know what you can compromise on. While there are some things we will always have to do, being able to segment them by doing things on certain days can help us make the mental boundaries necessary to improve the quality of our lives.

Planning And Goals

Goals are a great way to use planning in an efficient manner. A good goal allows the planner to be able to work towards the things they care about in a way that works for them. Two common ways of thinking that are relevant to this are process-oriented thinking and goal-oriented thinking. Both of these are needed in order to make the most out of your time. Process-oriented thinking is good since it helps us find joy in the day-to-day activities we do and focus on the task at hand. Learning to love being in the present is good as it can help foster feelings of gratitude and appreciation. Goal-oriented thinking allows us to plan for our future and take active steps to find the happiness we receive while working towards something. Both are valid and can improve our lives for the better.

Planning And Motivation

One of the last major areas where planning can help is related to our motivation. There are many different things that can motivate us to do something. This can be something as simple as wanting to improve at what we do, or as complex as wanting to make a tangible difference in the world. Breaking down whether our motivations are intrinsic or extrinsic can help with this. Some things we can plan for such as dedicating time of our day toward improving our craft. This is a great way of working towards our intrinsic motivations as they can help us feel a sense of accomplishment. Extrinsic motivations can also be planned for by planning accordingly. Getting a good grade on a test can be done by applying yourself more to your studies along with making sure you understand the material. Motivation is good because it can give you the push needed to get things done and planning works in harmony with that.
