Logic And How it Helps

Logic and rational thought go hand in hand and both of these can give you the tools needed to succeed. From being able to critically think, to being able to adapt to any situation, logic can help you in a wide variety of instances. Today we want to talk about how this can help you in your life.

Logic And Decision Making

One of the most apparent things when it comes to logic is how it helps in decision-making. Being able to make an informed choice is something that requires time, planning, and information. Someone with a desire to know the full story of something will often be the one who better understands what they are getting into. This is best seen when people ask questions about their options. A good example of this is asking a teacher about a project that they may have multiple options for. If a student is presented with the choice of either a project that can be done by themselves or in a group, they may carefully weigh which of the two are better for them. This is different from person to person and in some cases, they may use past experiences as a means of influencing their decisions. Using rational thought in this instance is good as it can help you stay informed with all the moving components.

Logic And Self-Efficiency

When properly developed, logic allows us to be more self-efficient. This is good as we ultimately want to be able to stand on our own when it comes to being lifelong learners. We can use different lessons we've learned throughout our courses to help with this. We can apply logic to things such as time management where we can accurately assess how and where we want to spend our time along with our responsibilities. We can use this to create a tracker to measure what foods we eat to have a more balanced diet. How you apply logic to these can vary although the general idea of using rational thought to achieve the best possible result still holds true. Being able to creatively apply logic to these activities, even subconsciously can help you immensely.

Logic And Education

Logic is one of the pillars of education and can be seen in many ways. One use of logic that ties into this is being able to spot logical fallacies and react to them accordingly. These typically try to undermine logical reasoning with elements that don't necessarily correlate or hold weight. A good example of this is the ad hominem fallacy which attempts to undermine an argument through the use of an insult. Being able to detect this early and not acknowledge it as a criticism on your point is necessary. The strawman fallacy is another example where one person assumes you are defending a point that you are not. Both of these are very common and being able to properly educate yourself about fallacies is good as it can help you communicate more efficiently.
