Playing To Your Strengths

All of us have things that we excel at and it's important to play to these strengths for many reasons. Recognizing our talents can be a massive boost in confidence for example. This approach can also be excellent for helping us base our goals around this. Today we want to examine why it's so crucial to play to our strengths.

Better Engagement

A great reason to adopt this approach is that it simply feels good to do something that you know you're great at. It can be the ultimate form of self-validation since it's the culmination of all of our efforts and showcases how far we've come. It also helps immensely with engagement. One of the biggest hurdles when trying something can be the discouragement we feel when we aren't reaching the goals we want to achieve. We might feel as if we're not making progress fast enough or that we aren't measuring up to a certain standard. Eventually though after enough time those thoughts may dissipate once we do something enough. Focusing on the initial engagement we have with an activity is important since we want to maintain that positive energy. Doing tasks that play to your strengths naturally helps with this since it can help channel those good feelings.

Improved Decision-Making

A great thing to consider when playing to your strengths is how they factor into the decisions you make. This is important since one of the worst things we can do is commit to something that is beyond our capabilities. An example of this can be when figuring out roles in a group project. If someone is assigning things to others you must speak up during this. For example, if you're being asked to create something that requires extensive knowledge of graphic design when your strength lies elsewhere, it's encouraged to express that. The reason for this is that the strength of a group depends on what each member is best able to bring to the table.

Promoting Positivity

We might not see it immediately but how we carry ourselves can affect those around us in more ways than we can imagine. A great example of this is our integrity since how we speak with others along with sharing our ideas and talents can make a world of difference. We owe it to ourselves to find the right method when working on new assignments since we want to make sure we're putting our best foot forward. Being able to inspire those around you to encourage them to work to their strengths can be a game changer. Everyone wants to feel as if they're able to contribute something positive to the world and it starts with making sure that we're able to do that for ourselves so we can in turn help those around us.
