Why Experience Is A Great Learning Method

Being able to adapt to the different learning styles out there can make us more flexible when applying our skills to the real world. Something to consider is that it's worth taking the time to find practical ways to implement what we've learned. Oftentimes one of the most helpful things we can have is the experience of doing something since it teaches us a lot.

Experience Provides Improvement

Whenever we do something it's good to keep in mind how good we are at it. Taking things slow initially is often the best course of action since it ensures we'll be safe when learning it. A great example of this is taking your time learning how to drive along with having someone there to guide you. Driving is an essential life skill and it's crucial that we learn how to do it the right way and giving enough time to do so. The real benefit of experience is that it provides a tangible sense of improvement since we need to do something in order to learn consistently. Playing an instrument is a great example of this since each time we pick one up we're effectively understanding how to better compose music along with the subtle techniques that make each instrument unique.

Experience And Engagement

Similar to the hands-on learning approach, experience works great because it's inherently engaging. Something to keep in mind is how present we are when doing an activity. If our mind is consistently wandering then chances are that we're not engaged with what we're doing. Recognizing whether it's because of the learning method itself, the activity, or simply because we don't feel motivated all play a role in this. Learning how to be present is something worth doing because it allows us to appreciate the things we're already doing. We can also take time to see the value from what we learn which can give us the perspective needed to embrace new activities. A good way to look at this is when we're tasked with a group project. When we're part of a group we're able to best contribute when we can demonstrate the skills and experience we've learned with the tasks we need to do.

Experience Is Part Of Life

Everyone has to start somewhere when it comes to learning something. School provides us with the tools and knowledge needed to help us become lifelong learners. It's ultimately up to us to continue our education outside of the classroom and what better way to do so than by taking the initiative? Our success in life is determined by a plethora of things with some of the biggest being our attitude and how we're willing to work towards the things we want. Every day allows us to learn something new and find ways to get better at what we already know.
