Embracing Our Inner Artist

Art and creativity are things we need to dedicate time to since they're part of what makes us unique as an individual. In some shape or form, all of us are artists and we have our own brand of creativity that we tap into throughout the day. While there are many times when we'll be going through life at a fast pace, it's worth slowing down and appreciating the sights and wonders around us. Today we want to talk about what we need to embrace our inner artist.

Art Helps Us Understand

Art functions as the bridge to empathy and understanding. Art is a reflection of the personal experiences someone or multiple people have been through and is also indicative of the environment and society that they're a part of. Knowing this, we need art if we want to have a deeper appreciation for and understanding of others on an individual and grand scale. Art can also help us understand more about who we are as a person since it gives us an outlet to express ourselves. Painting can provide a sense of color to our world and in many ways help us make sense of our emotions by making them visible. The same can be said for writing since it allows us to look through the world from another perspective by giving us multiple characters. This is the core of what makes it so effective since we quite literally have to form empathy to have a connection with these characters. Understanding others is essential if we want to be an artist and it gives us greater respect for those around us.

Art Is Healing

Another incredible reason to embrace our inner artist is because art itself is healing. When we feel that we're at our lowest point one of the best things we can do for ourselves is to channel those thoughts and emotions into artwork. It helps us make sense of what we're going through and in turn, can give us the perspective needed to process these thoughts. It can help us make better decisions while having fun creating an elaborate piece as well. Even when we're not creating art it can still have beneficial effects as well. Listening to music is a great example of this since it can help us relax after a long day and we can passively listen to it while studying. Watching a movie can let us appreciate all the hard work that goes into cinematography while also giving us something comfy to watch.

Art Is Who We Are

Art is one of the best representations of culture and people in general because simply put, art is who we are. It shows us at our highest and lowest points and is a reflection of the lives many of us lead daily. It can help us break down complex topics in a manner that's enjoyable while also being educational. Art can give us the courage to share our thoughts with others and in turn give a voice to those who truly need it. We need art in so many ways and it's something that is always worth the time and effort for.
