The Different Parts of Gratitude

While we may initially think that gratitude may be as simple as feeling thankful for something, it has more moving parts to it. Being able to see these different components can teach us to be more appreciative of the different elements within our lives. Today we want to cover what these are and how they can help us.

Recognize

In order to truly find the value in gratitude, we need to take time to recognize what exactly it is. Pinning down what we're grateful for can be hard at first. Rather than taking things for granted, we can take the time to meditate on what we have. Many of us are extremely fortunate that we live in a safe place that has many educational opportunities out there for us. Having an education that is essentially free for a good portion of our lives helps us make the most out of our experiences in school. Instead of feeling stressed about a situation, it's good to recognize that we're going to be okay. The simple act of reassurance is oftentimes enough to give us the self-awareness that we have a lot of good in our lives.

Acknowledge

While recognizing is an important part of the process of gratitude, being able to tangibly feel genuinely grateful about your life takes a different kind of approach. Rather than simply being content with having things that make you happy, we need to go a step further and embrace this. The positive mental attitude that goes along with acknowledgment can give you the courage needed to shape your thoughts into action. It can be hard to put these thoughts into words at times since gratitude is a combination of a state of mind, along with a combination of our actions. For some people, it's easier to do one part of this but we ideally need to be in a state of harmony. Once we're able to acknowledge these feelings is when we need to take action.

Appreciate

True gratitude is best shown through our actions. Being able to express our appreciation for our friends is one such example of this. Telling someone we care about them and appreciate that they're in our lives is a great way to do this. We can also opt to help them with something by taking the initiative and listening to things that they could use help with. For example, if we see they're struggling with their homework we can offer to help them study. Our actions have a big impact on the world and people around us and gratitude can be a driving force for positivity. Learning how to tap into this positive energy is good because it can help us make a tangible difference for the people we care about. Gratitude can also help us look at our moral compass and see that it can guide us in a way that focuses on empowerment. Gratitude teaches us how to best appreciate life and it's worth it every step of the way.
