Experience as a Means of Learning

Experience is one of the most tried and true methods of learning and this can be seen within school and our lives. Finding ways to integrate traditional education along with being mindful of where experience takes into effect is a great way to expand your knowledge. Today we want to talk about experience as a means of learning.

School as a Means of Experience

The classroom can teach us many different things about ourselves and how we perceive the world around us. One of the earliest instances of school being used in conjunction with experience is how we interact with our peers. This is crucial as we need to keep in mind that how we interact with someone varies depending on what we've experienced. For instance, we may be able to hold a better conversation with someone skilled in art if we have gone through a similar process. This can also be said for people who have been through a similar upbringing or been in a similar environment. While our peers may be in the same classroom, everyone within it has a different story to tell. Whether this is from how they learned to write, or how they improved at sports, recognizing that each experience has helped form someone into who they are is a good thing.

Experience in Your Personal Life

Personal experience is something that you can only learn through living through something. This can be many different situations such as finding how to best manage your emotions during a tough time. This can also be seen in how you interact with other people. Personal experience is good in that it can give you a foundation for how to behave along with giving you examples of where to improve or be mindful of. One example of how personal experience can help would be if you buy something from a brand or place you haven't been to before. Depending on how the product was, it can give you the information needed to not buy from there again. This is helpful as it can help us be conscious of how we use both our time and resources. This can also be applied to school whether a particular study method worked for you or not.

Experience And Reflection

Experience and reflection are both extremely personal and determined by how the individual chooses to address it. For many of us, a good way to do this is through the use of meditation. Meditation can help us clear our mind and look back on things in a way that lets us visualize our thoughts and emotions. We can review how we reacted along with seeing how this experience changed our view on things. It's important to keep in mind that experience doesn't necessarily equate to fact. This matters because one experience doesn't mean that something will always be that way and it needs to be viewed in the context of the whole. Using this as a means to channel mindfulness can help us in our daily lives.
