Making Time For Others

The people in our lives are important for a multitude of reasons. Sometimes we can find ourselves so busy that we neglect to spend time with those we care about. Rather than letting things get to this point, we need to make active steps to solve this. Today we want to talk about how we can find ways to make time for others and why it matters.

Take Care of The Truly Important Things First

Some things in life can't wait and taking care of these first is important. These things include making it on time to your classes or work since both of these are usually at certain times. These fall under our responsibilities and deserve the right amount of time and consideration. With that in mind, even though some of our things are fixed, that doesn't mean we can't work around them. Scheduling our time in a manner that works is part of growing up. We can opt to set a cutoff time for certain things so we can work on them more efficiently. Other ways to help with this is by writing down what we need to do and by when. It's good to remember that our responsibilities are a part of our life rather than the entirety of them.

Reach Out First

There are many people who want to spend time with you but often may need a bit of help to meet in the middle. One of the best ways to help with this is by reaching out to someone first. This is good because it shows that you have an active interest in wanting to spend time with others by taking the first step. Spending time with others can take time and planning since everyone has different priorities. Being proactive with your approach helps shift things in a manner that lets others know that you care about your relationship with them. It can be as simple as giving them a specific day or time or asking when they're free to hang out. Little things add up and people notice when we care about them. Communication and trust are best built when we're proactive in showing people that we care about them too.

Plan Things Out

Planning is a necessity when it comes to making time for others. Everyone has their own responsibilities they need to do and working through these can take time. Instead of hoping that things will work out, we need to take active steps toward planning. This can include finishing up our own to-do lists before adding more things to them. This can include finishing our homework on time or taking care of our physical and mental health. Planning when to spend time with others shows a consideration for each other’s schedules. Recognizing that everyone works on different cycles is important since it promotes understanding. People ultimately want to spend time with others. Sometimes it can take effort and proper communication but the results are worth it.
