Being Mindful of Your Space

Having healthy boundaries along with being aware of your own space is good as it can provide a sense of empowerment to you. Today we want to dive into why we need to take extra care of this and how it can help.

Putting Yourself First

Being able to put yourself first is important because it demonstrates self-care along with valuing your needs. When we are in a good state of mind we radiate that same sense of positive energy outward and it is easier for us to focus. Putting yourself first can be rather complex but let’s try to break it down. In the context of being mindful of your own space, this can involve choosing yourself when it comes to key decisions for group-related tasks. There are some things that we are inherently much better at skill-wise and being able to work on those first can help speed up these kinds of projects along with giving us more time. Another instance of this involves knowing when to give your time to others or when to prioritize self-care since things such as sleep can often come at the cost of this. Personal space is important which is why we need to look out for our own needs before we can help others.

Knowing Who to be Closer With

Your inner circle of friends is something that matters a lot more than we may realize. Our friend group can help empower us and make us feel more comfortable with who we are. There are instances however where we do need to heavily consider this. A good example of this involves knowing who to be closer with. It's impossible to have deep meaningful relationships with everyone we encounter in our lives and while this may sound like a bad thing, it can make us more conscious of who we spend our time with. Mutual respect is a good thing to practice and while we don't necessarily have to be friends with everyone we do want to practice respect as it's basic courtesy.

How it Affects You

Life can come with it many different challenges but being able to be comfortable in your own areas is crucial for your mental health. One example of this is having boundaries with what people can and can't do when they're in your home. While simple it conveys that there are some things you can't compromise on. This is good to have to an extent as we do want to have flexibility when we are around others since we can't control people. Communication skills are one of the best ways to help with this as we can take an assertive approach to be more direct. We need to adopt different communication styles depending on the situation such as whether we're trying to be gentle or firm. Our space is something we need to consider since it can help us be aware of whether we're being too strict with others or doing what we need to for our own well-being.
