Moving on Emotionally

Our emotions are capable of empowering us in a myriad of different ways. Sometimes though, we may have trouble pushing past some difficult areas of our lives. When things start to get this way, we will need to take a different approach. Today we want to discuss how to move on emotionally from things.

Understanding Your Feelings

While there are many instances where we feel that we may not be in the best of places, we need to make an active effort to understand our feelings. Oftentimes when we are in a rough place we may not properly comprehend all the things we are going through which is natural. It takes time to practice mindfulness with our emotions which is challenging in and of itself. Being open to this process though is something that can help us in a multitude of ways. Rather than simply being sad or angry, take some time to ask yourself why you feel the way that you do. Is it because of an external event outside of your control? Is it because you were upset with the way that you reacted to a situation? Both of these are common examples of things that can affect our feelings and breaking down how we felt is the first step toward moving on.

Accepting Yourself

Once we move past the understanding phase, the next thing we want to practice is acceptance. This can be multifaceted as acceptance doesn't simply mean being complacent with our emotions, rather it gives us the means to be confident with who we are. As people, we have our strengths and weaknesses which help highlight our uniqueness. Each of us has something special to bring to the table and instead of having our emotions weigh us down, we can view them as a means to appreciate ourselves and others more. In times of grief, it usually prompts us to take a more grateful attitude towards others and life in general. Simply being able to see and having a roof over our heads is something to be grateful for. Having clean air to breathe and the capacity to feel empathy towards people is extremely important. Practicing self-love gives us the means to value our feelings in a constructive way.

Moving Forward

Like our emotions, life is ever-changing and constantly moving in different directions. While being aware of our past is important, all we truly have is the present. Finding an appreciation for the moment is something that can help our emotional well-being in many different ways. It can teach us that while we may have been through something challenging, that we ultimately made it past that hurdle and have come out stronger from it. Experience can be one of the greatest teachers and this holds true for our emotions as well. Being exposed to different circumstances can help build up our resistance to stress which can make things much easier to handle. Our emotions are something we need to handle with love and care which is why we need to keep our health in mind.
