Why we Need a Routine

When we're going about our day we may not realize all the things we take for granted. How we spend our time is one such example of this since there are some days that might go by faster than we expect. One thing that can help us is having a routine. Today we want to cover why it's so essential for us to have some form of a routine to get us through the day.

Awareness of Our Time

Time is by far our most valuable resource and we need to spend it wisely in order to make the most out of it. Small errands can easily get out of hand when they come at the cost of the important things we need to accomplish. While flexibility is great, sometimes we need to have the discipline to stick to something when it needs to be done. We can do this by eliminating distractions when we're working on things such as our homework or studying for a test. Saying no to things we aren't sure about can also be to our benefit since we ultimately know our own interests the best. We want to feel empowered with where our time is being spent since it allows us to live our best possible life.

A Sense of Stability

From time to time it's good to check in with ourselves and see how we're doing. Certain days can feel turbulent and a bit too fast-paced compared to what we're used to. The good thing about having a routine is that it gives us something we can fall back to when we need stability. Yes we want to embrace new life experiences but it's good to do it at a pace that works alongside our personality. Some people are naturally more adventurous than others and for them exploring is part of their routine. Others may be more content with doing something similar most days which is completely valid if they're satisfied with that. We're in charge of our own lives and that entails finding what makes us feel secure and stable.

Making Time For What we Value

Taking time to do what we truly value can provide us with meaning and accomplishment. In between all of our responsibilities, we have so many options for how we use our time. From learning an instrument to taking care of our pets, or simply spending time with those we love, there's something out there we care about. A routine helps us make sense of things when the going gets rough and is a reminder that there is so much fun to be had. A routine can provide emotional stability as well because it ensures that our needs are being taken care of. Having the right balance of doing what we need to, along with prioritizing the people and activities that empower us is one of the best things we can do for our well-being.
