Our Physical Health

Recognizing that our body is important is a key element in promoting good health. It can be very easy to neglect our needs when we are too focused on the task at hand. A good way to promote our physical health starts with what we eat. Rather than eating an excessive amount of processed food, taking time to eat home-cooked meals can help cut down on things such as preservatives and other things. Consciously making an effort to eat less sugar can help your mood by allowing you to rest your mind. Eating food that works for you is important such as foods high in protein. This matters as physical exercise is another great means of helping out our health. Exercising boosts our serotonin levels which in turn enhances and stabilizes our mood. Both of these components are necessary to our well-being as our physical health can affect how we feel.

Our Mental Health

Equally important to our physical health is our mental health. Motivation is one element that falls under this as it can directly affect our happiness and vice versa. Our mental health can be affected by a wide variety of things such as our mood, burnout, how many assignments we have, or how well we manage time. Accommodating for each of these is good as they all matter. If we feel our mood is fluctuating a lot, we can take time to step back and see what is affecting us mentally. If we are experiencing burnout then we may need to take time to decompress and get us back to a state where we feel calm. If we feel overwhelmed with assignments we can choose to take them on one at a time rather than looking at things from a wide lens. Time management is another means of helping out our mental health as we need to take time to do the things we love along with the things we need to center ourselves.

Our Social Health

Social needs are something we all require regardless of where we are in our lives. Our relationships not only help us grow, but they are a large contributing factor to our happiness. Finding the right balance between time for us and time with others can let us develop more insight about ourselves. Being okay with being by ourselves is a good thing as we need to stand strong on our own. Spending time with others is ideally a fun activity as it allows us to share our interests with each other. It provides us with an avenue to relate to one another and can give us new experiences to share. It's important to remember that we are inherently social and it's good to want to spend time with others. Our health matters and taking care of ourselves is always a priority.
