Balance is a Necessity

While it may have been helpful to try and strike a good balance within high school, it is a necessity in college. The main reason for this is the increased workload for the classes themselves along with other responsibilities students may face such as a part time, or even full time job. Suffice to say that this can lead to a lot of stress. Finding this balance can be difficult as it requires a new mindset and techniques. Scheduling is one way to see where your time is being used along with setting aside time for assignments and rest. Taking downtime is also important as it can help energize you for assignments throughout the school semester as well. College does a great job at teaching us when we need to work an when we need to relax and enjoy the moment.

It Prepares You For Your Career

College courses are known for the overall coursework to be more difficult than high school. This makes sense as these courses are meant to prepare you for challenges you may face in your career. This can be a good thing though as these different courses give yourself a step in the right direction in terms of the skills needed for later along with giving you a well-rounded education. The first two years of college traditionally have a blend of courses in many different subjects while the second two years focus more on your major of choice. Both of them have relevance and certain things such as stress and time management are crucial in both. An art major can still benefit from general math and economics courses as they can help for practical uses such as managing finances. Likewise an engineering major can benefit from creative courses as the outside of the box thinking can help for innovation.

The Experience Itself is Life Changing

College can have a large impact on how you develop as a person. It can help you see new perspectives and world views along with fostering empathy. It can be a means to understand concepts you may have never learned about. It lets you meet others who share similar interests with their own unique goals and aspirations. College teaches you how to be self-sufficient and make the most of your time and energy. It gives you the tools needed to succeed both in your career and as a person. The knowledge and experience gained within college is unique to the college itself and the individual. It can let you meet some of your best friends along with giving you fond memories to look back on. College gives you the chance to take the first step toward higher education while also studying something that you love.
