Creativity And Its Impact

Creativity can be seen everywhere. From advertisements to books to movies, and even in the classroom. There are many benefits to this. Today we want to talk about the impact creativity can have.

Thinking Outside The Box

When it comes to our thought processes, there are many ways that we need to think in a manner that is more linear. This is typically a point A to point B style of thinking which is common in more logic-based areas. While this type of thinking has its time and place, sometimes we need to think outside of the box to find success. Not everything has a specific formula to use which is all the more reason we need to critically, and creatively seek out new solutions. One example of this would involve character development in writing. An abstract idea that can help is trying to make them more interesting. To do this we'd need to think of scenarios to help said character find growth in, such as a difficult situation or a life lesson that they can learn. Being open to new ideas is good as it can allow us to see other perspectives.

It Allows For Freedom

If there's one aspect of creativity that can make a difference is that it allows for freedom. Having a choice for how to work on different things is something that can empower us. For example, let's say you have two methods of doing an assignment. The first method involves following a script of instructions to finish said task. The second method has fewer instructions but offers more flexibility with how they are solved. An important thing to recognize is that each of these methods works for certain types of people. The structure from the first method is good for those who prefer organization and more concrete ways of doing things. The second method however is more suited for people who need a sense of choice when doing tasks. We can see both of these types of assignments in our schoolwork when it comes to projects and recognizing which one works for you can help.

Creativity Helps Expression

Expressing ourselves has a lot of merits. There are moments where communicating our thoughts through conversation isn't enough. When we feel like this is the case, we can turn to creative endeavors to help fill in this gap. One good way to help with expressing ourselves is to not be concerned with others judging our works. Small things such as freewriting can help with this as it puts our thoughts on paper in a judgment-free space. Recording a podcast about our favorite topic is another example of expressing ourselves that can be relatively easy to do. The idea behind this is to simply start. The creative process can have many components within it that are useful. It can promote well-being by letting us showcase our talents and feel comfortable being who we are. While it may take some time to start, being creative is something that can have a positive impact in your life.
