How Your Mindset Affects Your Happiness

Our mind is one of our greatest assets when it comes to accomplishing things. Finding ways to let our minds empower us is crucial to our success. Today we want to talk about the correlation between our mindset and happiness along with some ways to work on that.

An Abundance Mindset

One common thing that many of us fall into is thinking about scarcity. Scarcity is tricky because there are some things out there that are limited in quantity but in this instance, it relates more to our mindset. Rather than viewing things from this perspective, a much healthier way to look at things is from an abundance mindset. This is important because it recognizes that there is enough creativity, ingenuity, and willpower to help push you toward the things you want to do. An abundance mindset allows for many people to succeed instead of simply seeing it as a win or lose kind of scenario. It helps you focus more on collaboration and working with others to fulfill the things that they want as well. A great example of this is seeing multiple artists working together on a piece to help it have a more diverse appeal with its imagery. Instead of viewing it as diluting your artwork, an abundance mindset sees it as both sides prospering simultaneously.

A Growth Based Mindset

Two mindsets we need to consider are a fixed mindset versus a growth-based mindset. A fixed mindset revolves around the idea that our skills are inherent with little flexibility for improvement. This can be limiting in the sense that it can prevent us from looking outside of our comfort zone and instead only focus on what have at the moment. An alternative approach is a growth-based mindset. This perspective changes the focus from what we are already able to do into what we can learn. This is extremely helpful for many reasons. For starters, it incentivizes taking the initiative to discover new and unique things that can be good for us. It also allows us to see that that there are more ways to look at things instead of relying on the same fixed mindset for everything. Being able to challenge yourself and grow as an individual is necessary to become more well-rounded and to find new passions.

An Optimistic Mindset

Lastly, we want to discuss two more mindsets, the pessimistic mindset versus the optimistic mindset. The pessimistic mindset focuses on seeing the worst qualities of various things. The optimistic mindset on the other hand tends to focus on the positive nature of things. In some instances, pessimism can be helpful when it comes to seeing whether someone's intentions are genuine as it can protect you from harm. Most of the time, however, an optimistic mindset helps channel better qualities that will leave you more open and receptive to new information. This is great because happiness is much easier to find when we take the active effort to see things in a good light. You have a lot of choices when it comes to your mindset and while there will be situations where we need to consider both sides, these three specifically can help boost your happiness.
