Technology has come a long way and is continuing to shape how we view and interact with the world. One of the most prominent things is how it has affected education over the years. Let's do a deep dive and see some of the ways we use it to streamline certain things within school.

Many students still use handwritten notes as their primary method of doing this and in many ways it's effective. Some students may prefer to use technology to help with this since it can give them an alternative medium to work with. Laptops and tablets each provide different tools to help with this since things such as Microsoft Office allow students to take notes with ease. Certain courses might work better if students can also draw on their tablets since it can also cut down on buying supplies. Writing notes on a tablet can allow for greater storage along with having access to them more immediately.

Online And Hybrid Learning

Accessibility for learning is more prominent than ever which allows students to continue their education with more flexibility. Online learning is one of the best examples of this since it can help students plan more around their schedule. Being able to do classwork from anywhere can also give students the opportunity to find the environment that best suits them. Hybrid learning also falls into this and can be instrumental for higher education. Some students may need to have a teacher there for them in person since they may be more receptive to the material. They also might prefer that the bulk of the assignments be done outside of the class because that could be how they best get work done.

Fostering Digital Literacy

It's important to stay adaptable to the ever-changing trends within the world and this is necessary when students eventually pursue their careers when their educational journey is over. Digital literacy specifically is something we need to be educated about given how technology is present in many fields. The more we engage with technology in the classroom the easier it is to understand its role in our education. Like many things, it’s a tool and how we use it determines our success with it. It takes a healthy amount of awareness to recognize that we're capable of using technology in a method that can help us. It's easy to get distracted by it at times because of the immediate results it provides and we need to temper those expectations with reality. Having a genuine desire to learn how to use our devices more efficiently and responsibly is part of digital literacy. The internet alone provides an endless amount of knowledge and advice to parse through and it’s up to us to do that the right way.
