How To Be More Spontaneous

There are so many wonderful things to experience in life. Some of these things are best appreciated when we're able to schedule them. Others are best appreciated on a more spontaneous basis. Having a routine can ease a lot of stress off of our mental plate, but we still need to make time for spontaneity. Today we want to talk about how to be more spontaneous and why it's so important.

Going With The Flow

Being able to say yes can open up a world of possibilities. Oftentimes we might find ourselves saying no to things that are both safe and enjoyable. It can be the result of being a bit tired, or it could simply be some anxiety we need to sort through. Regardless of the reason, it's a lot easier to enjoy life when we're more open to going with the flow. Rather than get lost in the details of an activity, going with the flow allows us to see the positive aspects of doing something. This is essential because it helps us cultivate a more optimistic mindset. This in turn allows us to have a more positive outlook on life itself. Going with the flow is similar to a river constantly being in motion. Given that life is always changing, learning how to accept that and staying on course with change can make us much more receptive to the rhythms of life itself.

Being Okay With Changing Your Mind

Understanding how we look at things can make a world of difference. Depending on the subject, our mind might feel as if it's already made up with our opinions on things. Recognizing whether our opinions have some sort of grounding in reality or whether it's our emotions or biases contributing to it is important. A static mindset can make it much harder to accept new information even if it's objectively true. This is largely because we might come to associate our ideas as part of our identity which in many cases they aren't. Our minds are ever evolving and being stuck in one way of thinking can make it much harder to relate to those around us. Being spontaneous requires us to rethink things and be okay with changing our minds.

Focus On Action

We want our thoughts to empower us to do the right thing. Sometimes though it can feel as if our thoughts aren't in harmony with our actions. Being able to work towards cognitive consonance is important since it allows positive thoughts to lead to positive actions. In life, our actions speak much louder than our words since they have a tangible impact on the world around us. This is good to keep in mind since even when we aren't feeling well, we can still make a mental connection and work towards making better choices. If we feel sad or angry, it's good to focus on what actions we can take to improve our well-being. This allows us to reclaim our power and focus more on our happiness.
