Choosing Positivity

Sometimes there are moments in life when we feel that things may not be going our way. This is okay and it's healthy to accept that these are parts of life. Rather than letting it get us down, we can choose to look at things in a more positive manner. Today we want to talk about how our mindset and actions can help us with this.

Identify Negativity

In order to consciously choose positivity, we have to first identify what is negatively affecting us. Sometimes it can be the situation we're in. For example, if we feel that someone specifically is causing us frustration, we can ask ourselves what about it is causing this. If we think that it's a communication issue, we can opt to calmly speak to them on the side if it's something more personal we need to take time to reflect on this. It's good to consider whether we're projecting our feelings onto someone else's behaviors or if it's a legitimate concern to address. Meditation allows us to have time to ourselves to see these things for what they really are and can help us work on them when we're in the right headspace.

Consider Your Options

Once we're able to understand the source of negativity, being aware of what our options are can help make things easier for us. For example, rather than letting something frustrate us, we can opt to do something that calms us down instead. For some of us, it can be a matter of stepping away from negative situations so we can put things into perspective. Chances are that what's affecting us isn't that big of an issue in the grand scheme of things. Yes, our feelings are valid and it's good to keep that in mind since our emotions have a big part in how we view the world around us. It's good to remember that we always have the option of how we react to something.

Recognize That You Have an Influence

The last way we can choose positivity is by recognizing that we have an influence in our lives. This simple fact can help empower us to make the right choices and handle things when we feel they aren't going how we expect them to. Positivity has this sort of ripple effect where it can impact many other areas of our lives. Taking care of our bodies and minds for example can teach us the value of self-love which in turn radiates outwards. When we're happy with who we are, it's that much easier to express that same sort of happiness towards others along with the things we do. Negativity doesn't have to bog us down, if anything we can use it as a learning tool for how to handle our emotions and work towards a healthier alternative. Life is meant to be enjoyed which is why it's so important to make the most of our time by consciously choosing positivity rather than dwelling on things that disempower us.
