How to Focus More on Action

Finding the right balance between thinking and doing can be challenging at times. Learning how to focus more on action rather than overthinking things is good because it can lead to more satisfaction. Today we want to talk about how to do this along with some mindset shifts to help with this.

Writing Simple Goals

One effective way that many people take action is by writing down the things they want to accomplish. This is good for several reasons. For one it can give us an idea of what to do and when along with showcasing the things we truly care about. A common hurdle that we may encounter when it comes to our goals is that we may wind up being more focused on the thought process behind it as opposed to following through. This sort of overthinking can be harmful because it can cause us to not do what we want to. One factor that contributes to this is having complex goals. While this is fine to an extent, being able to break things down into actionable steps can be more constructive. Alternatively, we can try to work on simpler goals which can lead us to the more complex ones. Small daily tasks that we want to do such as going for a walk can give us the courage to start an exercise routine for ourselves.

Take Into Account Your Feelings

Your feelings are an important part when it comes to taking initiative within your life. Knowing what affects you can determine whether you wind up enjoying an activity. A good example of this is understanding how you feel when doing something new. Sometimes we may have reservations about this which is perfectly fine. It can be hard to take the first step to do something new which is why we need to acknowledge this and be patient with ourselves. We can opt to do meditation to help us see how we feel about these things in a private manner and focus on letting go of these thoughts. This can effectively give us an outlet for expression along with being able to work on self-awareness. Being mindful of our feelings is something that is great because it helps us strive toward action by demonstrating self-care.

Let go And Just Start

One of the last major steps in taking action is learning to let go and just start. This is important because while there are many different reasons to not do something that are legitimate such as health concerns, we eventually need to recognize which of these barriers are being unnecessary. Having anxiety over trying something new is normal but having it prevent you from ever branching out of your comfort zone can be harmful. There will come a point where we have to acknowledge our thoughts while also still following through on our actions. College is a great example of this since our minds can have reservations about wanting to do it such as not feeling like we can accomplish it. More often than not though we are in fact capable of doing the things we want to, it's simply a matter of overcoming those mental hurdles and focusing on what our actions can do.
